Hello beauties!! 🙂 Today’s post is going to be a very fun one — I am testing out some of the nail hacks I keep seeing on Pinterest. I am only going to do three today so it wouldn’t be too long of a post The three hacks I am going to be testing are the DIY Nail Stickers, the glue around your nail to protect it from getting messy, and the glue as a base coat for glitter polish. I have to say, it was kind of frustrating at times but this was a really fun post for me to do, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!
DIY Nail Stickers — Do they work?
On Pinterest it said you needed a plastic bag, a nail polish, and a design to make these stickers. I did two coats of Sally Hansen’s Coral Reef (the old formulation) and then made a flower out of Essie’s No Place Like Chrome with a center of China Glaze’s Flip Flop Fantasy. I also used OPI’s Matte Top Coat to finish of my nail.
After my nail stickers had dried, I used a pair of tweezers to help me get them off the bag. It was really difficult to get my sticker off without tearing it.
After about ten minutes of me trying to get this sticker off, it finally came off in one piece. I then placed it on my nail and pressed it down. I then let it sit for a couple of minutes then used a file to get rid of the rest of the sticker.
I have to say, this worked out a lot better than I thought it would. The only bad or most difficult thing about this hack was getting the sticker off the bag. But all in all, this hack works!!
Glue Around the Nail to Help Cleanup– Does it work?
On Pinterest, it said you needed glue, something to apply the glue, and nail polish. I used a small paint brush, Martha Stewart’s Craft Glue (it is identical to Elmer’s Glue), and China Glaze’s Flip Flop Fantasy to paint my whole nail.
As in the picture, I painted all around my nail and a little under it too. I did a pretty thick coat of glue just to make sure it would peel.
I let the glue dry then painted my nails pretty sloppily. I also dotted a little bit of polish on top of the glue to really test it out.
After my nail polish was done drying, I started to peel up the glue and it actually did a decent job of cleaning up my nail. I still had some parts of the nail polish around my nail, but it was probably because the glue didn’t peel off with the rest of the peel.
This hack, although time consuming, really does work. But honestly, nobody has time to carefully paint around their nails with glue each time they paint their nails, it is simply easier to use nail polish remover.
Glue As A Base Coat for Glitter Polish– Does it work?
On Pinterest, it said you needed glue, something to paint the glue on your nail with, and your glitter polish. I used the same glue and paint brush in the hack above and my most difficult to remove glitter polish- OPI’s Polka.com.
I started out with a thick coat of glue on my nail. The hack never said how much glue to put on, but I wanted to make sure it peeled. It did dry pretty fast so it didn’t delay painting your nails at all.
I then painted my nails and tried to put as much glitter chunks as possible.
I let that dry for about 15 minutes then tried to start peeling it off. But joke’s on me. It didn’t peel off. I could only get the group of chunky glitter right by my cuticle on my pointer finger to peel off.
I ended up picking off the glitter chunks because they were not peeling off at all. I was left with pretty ugly looking nails.
If you are thinking about doing this hack with glitter polish, do yourself a favor and don’t. It is a terrible idea. You will regret it. This hack does not work at all.
What do you guys think about this post? It was fun for me to test all these hacks, even though it was very frustrating at moments. If you have any other hacks you want me to test out, comment them and I will do my best to post about them!! As always, have a great rest of your day and be sure to come back this Monday for a new post!
